CHICKENS ON VACATION
by Rick Charette
GET ON MY BIKE
CHORUS:
I'm going to get on my bike.
I'm going to get on my bike.
I'm going to get on my bike and ride.
1. Waking up, out of bed.
I've got the whole day right before me.
The sun is up. The sky is blue.
The best thing I could do. CHORUS:
2. Straight ahead, down the street.
My wheels are turning. I'm picking up speed.
Down the hill, round the bend,
moving as fast as I can. CHORUS:
3. Hit the bumps, take a jump.
I'm flying high, up in the air now.
Spinning out, I never doubt
I can ride so well. CHORUS:
4. When I'm stuck inside and the rain is falling,
time goes by so slow.
When I finally see that rainbow shine,
I know I'm ready to go. CHORUS:
MACARONI AND CHEESE
1. How do I make macaroni and cheese?
First I get out a pan and a spoon.
Fill the pan up with water.
While I wait 'til it boils, I whistle a tune.
Macaroni goes in. I like to watch it swim.
I cook it 'til it taste done.
Add milk and cheese. I eat it with ease.
I like macaroni and cheese.
2. My little brother has a different way
of making macaroni and cheese.
He gets up on the counters on his hands and knees.
Pulls out everything he sees.
Out come the pots. Out come the pans.
Everything's all over the floor.
"Help me" he pleads. "Oh. mama please!
I'm making macaroni and cheese."
I love macaroni and cheese.
3. My big sister is a very good chef.
Macaroni and cheese is her thing.
A little experience, she adds tons of ingredients,
makes a feast for a queen or a king.
Gets a pot from the shelf as she talks to herself.
Waves her arms all over the place. (Mama Mia!)
In an hour or two, she'll have for you
the best macaroni and cheese.
So delicious! The best macaroni and cheese.
There'll be plenty. The best macaroni and cheese.
Enough for seconds. The best macaroni and cheese.
It's filling up the kitchen!
I love macaroni and cheese!
I SPILLED MY JUICE
CHORUS:
I spilled my juice, juice, juice
on the kitchen table.
I spilled my juice, juice, juice.
What am I going to do?
I spilled my juice, juice, juice.
It won't stop spilling.
Why it won't stop, I don't have a clue.
1. It's dripping off the table.
It's splashing on the floor.
It's building like a river.
It's headed out the door.
I'll never get it cleaned up,
no matter how hard I try.
It's at the end of the driveway now
splashing cars as they go by. CHORUS:
2. It looked in both directions
before it crossed the street.
The juice had many colors.
It was getting very deep.
I chased it down the highway,
paper towel in my hand.
I was feeling kind of nervous.
Would I have to build a dam? CHORUS:
3. There were bugs landing everywhere,
fleas, dragonflies and ants.
The juice got them so excited
Why some began to dance.
They were slurping and diving.
Some were working out.
If you never heard of bug juice,
that's how it came about. CHORUS:
4. I chased it to the South Pole.
There was lots of ice and snow.
My juice came to a crawl.
It was ninety-five below.
I had to come and tell you.
I know you won't believe your ears.
I found a pile of popsicles
enough to last a million, billion,
trillion, zillion years.
Last CHORUS:
If you spill your juice, juice, juice
on the kitchen table,
If you spill your juice, juice, juice,
could this happen to you?
If you spill your juice, juice, juice,
it could be an adventure.
Sometimes you never know
what that juice will do.
I CAUGHT IT (THE BASEBALL SONG)
1. I stand in the outfield with my head down.
I'm the worst ball player in this whole town.
I can't hit a pitch. I can't catch a ball,
'cause what I do best is trip and fall.
2. I still in the outfield and what do I see?
A big pop fly head straight for me.
I stick out my glove and close my eyes.
Whoosh! What a great surprise!
3. I caught it! I caught it!
I'm not so bad after all.
I caught it! I caught it!
And I didn't even trip and fall.
4. I'm now in the infield playing first base.
A kid hits a line drive straight at my face.
I stick out my glove and close my eyes.
Whoosh! What a great surprise!
He's out! I shout!
We won the game!
He's out! I shout!
We won the game!
PAW PRINTS
1. Paw prints in the hallway.
Paw prints on the stairs.
Paw prints on the railing.
Paw prints on the chairs.
Paw prints by the pet food.
Paw prints on the mat.
Who could make these paw prints?
I know! My cat.
2. Hoof prints by the oak tree.
Hoof prints by the pond.
Hoof prints all along this trail
that I'm walking on.
Hoof prints right beside the stream
running by so clear.
Who could make these hoof prints?
I know! A deer.
3. Paw prints by my Frisbee.
Paw prints by my bike.
Paw prints on the door step.
Paw prints by my kite.
Paw prints near my sandwich.
Paw prints by my cup.
Who could make these paw prints?
I know! My pup.
Footprints by my skateboard.
Footprints in the mud.
Footprints by the cookie jar.
Footprints on the rug.
Footprints by the laundry.
Up the stairs they climb.
Who could make these footprints?
Could be...maybe...okay, They're mine!
I HATE GETTING UP IN THE MORNING
CHORUS:
Oh, I hate getting up in the morning.
It's an awful thing to do.
If I get up before I'm awake,
I can't even tie my shoe.
1. I'm so tired. I can't get up.
I just don't feel like it.
I didn't sleep well at all last night.
I'm in a bad mood and ready to fight. CHORUS:
2. My alarm clock wakes me up.
How do you shut it off?
I turn over and go back to sleep
and I start dreaming of Little Bo Peep. CHORUS:
3. Then my mom comes and wakes me up.
My little brother jumps on my bed.
I fall on the floor, hit my head on the door.
No use trying to sleep anymore. CHORUS:
4. So I go downstairs and head for the couch.
I try to watch tv.
Then my sister comes in and turns the channel
without even asking me. CHORUS:
5. I head for the kitchen to grab a bite.
I can tell this day is not going right.
Tripped over a book, I haven't even read.
I knew all along I should of stayed in bed. CHORUS:
TAKING MY CAT DOWN THE SLIDE

1. I'm taking my cat down the slide.
I'm taking my cat for a wonderful ride,
down the slide for a wonderful ride.
It's a sunny day.
2. I'm taking my frog on the bus.
I'm taking my frog. There's never a fuss.
On the bus, there's never a fuss.
It's a bumpy ride.
3. I'm taking my fish to the pool.
I'm taking my fish. I'll bring the whole school.
To the pool, I'll bring the whole school.
It's a summer's day.
4. I'm taking my horse out to lunch.
I'm taking my horse with carrots to munch,
out to lunch, with carrots to munch.
It's a hungry day.
5. Whistle throughout the verse.
6. I'm taking my dog to the show.
I'm taking my dog. We'll sit in the front row.
At the show, we'll sit in the front row.
It's a Saturday.
7. Repeat verse 1
DOLPHINS
Chorus:
Dolphins, dolphins swimming in the sea,
Can I play with you?
Dolphins, dolphins looking up at me,
We could find lots to do.
1. I could climb onto your back.
You could take me for a ride.
Through those mighty waves,
we could glide, glide, glide.
Splash around all day,
I'd stay by your side and play.
Chorus:
2. I could get my ball. How 'bout playing
catch?
We could toss it back and forth.
You could fetch, fetch, fetch
I like to see you smile.
We could swim a long, long while.
Chorus:
3. Searching in the sea,
you seem to learn so quick.
Beaming out those sounds,
they go "Click. Click. Click."
Show me things to do. I will be a friend to you.
Dolphins, I'll be your friend.

CHICKENS ON VACATION
It was one of those warm and clear summer mornings down on the farm.
The sun was rising in a clear blue sky and a gentle breeze was rippling
through the trees.
Out by the barn, the cows were mooing softly; the sheep were moving about
quietly in their pens. The horses were grazing in the pasture and on the
front porch, the dog was curled up and fast asleep. It seemed like all the
animals were happy and content except for the chickens.
There was no doubt about it. The chickens were restless and really
needed a vacation. So they packed their suitcases and off they went.
Around the tractor, under a fence, through a long dark tunnel, it made no
sense.
Across the river, up over the hill and down the road they went.
At the airport, there was all kinds of activity with planes coming and
going. Passengers had just begun loading at Gate #5. When all of a sudden,
out of nowhere, all these chickens started boarding the plane too. They were
wearing sunglasses and Hawaiian shirts. They even had cameras around their
necks. Where in the world did they think they were going?
CHORUS:
Chickens on a plane fly through the sky
off to California in July.
Chickens on vacation fly through the air
from a farm in Delaware.
1. They bob their heads, com their hair.
Some watch clouds below.
Hear them talk: "Bok! Bok! Bok!"
They're ready for the fireworks show. CHORUS:
2. With shorts and sandal, funny hats,
they're dancing in the aisles.
Round they go. Do-si-do.
Look at all those chicken smiles. CHORUS:
3. They pick at snacks. Scratch their backs.
Some they cross their legs.
All those beaks pecking at seats.
One hen laid an egg. CHORUS:
4. A rooster shouts: "Let's jump out!"
They put on their parachutes.
They open the door. Count to four.
One, two, three, four!
They creep to the edge.
They look way down.
"Hey, we're chickens! Yahoo!
(chickens jump out)
Final CHORUSES:
Chickens with parachutes drop from the sky.
Flap their wings and close their eyes.
Chickens with parachutes drop to the trees
in the hills of Tennessee.
Chickens on a plane, fly through the sky.
Now in Tennessee, they've just arrived.
Chickens on vacation fly through the air
from a farm in Delaware.
GET YOUR ICE-COLD LEMONADE
CHORUS:
Lemonade! Lemonade!
Get your ice-cold lemonade!
Lemonade! Lemonade! Lemonade!
1. One sunny Saturday in our backyard,
I started to work on a plan.
I pulled things together, put things in place
for my very own lemonade stand.
My sister and brother wanted to help.
I told them what they should do.
Stand on the corner and shout very loud
telling the whole neighborhood. CHORUS:
2. We put up the signs. I set up the table.
A bargain! Just ten cents a glass!
We tried to get the attention of people
who watched in cars as they passed.
We talked about things we would buy at the store
with all the money we earned.
One hour passed. Nobody stopped.
We continued to yell taking turns. CHORUS:
3.Nothing had happened. Still nobody stopped.
Business was slow as could be.
We lowered the price to five cents a glass.
Soon it was going for free.
Suddenly kids in the whole neighborhood
lined up in front of our stand.
When the cups were all empty, we
drank from the pitcher
the best lemonade in the land. CHORUS:
IN MY POCKET
1. I've got a dime (Clink!) in my pocket.
Got a dime (Clink!) in my pocket.
Got a dime (Clink!) in my pocket.
Got a dime and I feel fine.
2. I've got some gum (Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!) in my pocket.
Got some gum (Chomp! Chomp!
Chomp!) in my pocket.
Got some gum (Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!) in my pocket.
Got some gum (Chomp!), a dime (Clink!)
and I feel fine.
3. I've got a frog (Ribet!) in my pocket.
Got a frog (Ribet!) in my pocket.
Got a frog (Ribet!) in my pocket.
Got a frog (Ribet!), gum (Chomp!), a dime (Clink!)
and I feel fine.
4. I've got some slime (Yuck!) in my pocket.
Got slime (Yuck!) in my pocket.
Got slime (Yuck!) in my pocket.
Got slime (Yuck!), a frog (Ribet!), gum (Chomp!), a dime (Clink!)
and I feel fine.
5. I've got a sneeze (A-chooo!) in my pocket.
Got a sneeze (A-chooo!) in my pocket.
Got a sneeze (A-chooo!) in my pocket.
Got a sneeze (A-chooo!), Slime (Yuk!), a frog (Ribet!), gum (Chomp!), a dime
(Clink!)
and I feel fine.
6. I've got a storm (whrrr sounds) in my
pocket.
Got a storm (whrrr sounds) in my pocket.
Got a storm (whrrr sounds) in my pocket.
Got a storm (whrrr sounds), sneeze (A-chooo!), slime Yuk!), a frog (Ribet!),
gum (Chomp!), a dime (Clink) and I feel fine.
7. Repeat verse 1

FOUR BOUNCING JELLYBEANS
There were four bouncing jellybeans.
they lived in a jar.
They played in the kitchen
and bounced on the floor.
They liked to jump. They were very plump.
They jumped so high. They touched the sky.
They never came back 'til the Fourth of July.
IT'S TIME TO GO TO BED

CHORUS:
It's time to go to bed.
DO I HAVE TO GO TO BED?
You'd better go to bed. It's getting late.
It's time to go to bed.
DO I HAVE TO GO TO BED?
You'd better go to bed. You look tired.
1. David and his sister, Jill, have had a busy day.
They have on their pajamas. They're putting things away.
After reading stories, there really is no doubt
what their parents mean when they both call out. CHORUS:
2. Brian's brushed his teeth and picked up all his clothes.
He's had thirty drinks of water. Now he's stubbed his toe.
He's been up and down the stairs at least fifty-seven times.
His parents say "That's it!" No way they'll change their minds. CHORUS:
3. Beth can't find her glasses. She's lost one of her shoes.
She suddenly remembers there's homework left to do.
Her little baby brother's tucked in and sound asleep.
Now her mother says to her quietly. CHORUS:
4. When my parents call a sitter, our favorite one is Tom.
He's very easy going, never bosses us around.
He lets us stay up later. A favorite game we play.
Every now and then he remembers to say. CHORUS:
5. Suppertime is over. It's nearly eight o'clock.
Mom and dad are so amazed. The dishes are all washed.
Mom is getting cranky. Dad is all worn out.
They're looking very sleepy so their children sing out.
Last CHORUS:
IT'S TIME TO GO TO BED!
Is it really time for bed?
YOU'D BETTER GO BED. IT'S GETTING LATE.
IT'S TIME TO GO TO BED.
I guess enough's been said.
The house is getting quiet.
The day went by so fast.
We finally get to sleep at last.
(May I have another drink of water?)
GIVE ME A CHANCE TO TRY
CHORUS:
I need someone to give me a chance,
give me a chance to give it a try.
I need someone to give me a chance,
give me a chance to try.
1. Jenny's standing out on the playing field.
Gives all her teammates a call.
She's wide open. She could make the shot
if somebody would pass her the ball.

give her a chance to give it a try.
Jenny needs someone to give her a chance,
give her a chance to try.
2. The principal is talking with some kids in class.
They're often in trouble at school.
Getting into fights, seldom doing their work,
often disobeying the rules.

give them a chance to give it a try.
They need someone to give them a chance,
give them a chance to try.
3. Willie wants to learn to ride a two-wheeled bike.
He watches as his friends ride past.
It's not that he's afraid he might fall.

give him a chance to give it a try.
Willie needs someone to give him a chance,
give him a chance to try.

talk together now.
We can talk together right now.
